Eric Morel is a Ph.D. student in the English Department and a Predoctoral Lecturer in the Program on the Environment at the University of Washington. Most broadly, he researches the value of reading and kinds of “bookishness” in the context of environmental challenges. More specifically, his dissertation studies nineteenth-century works along with their reception histories to trace articulations of their environmentalist value by authors, readers, activists, critics, and scholars. He received his BA with a Major in English and a Minor in Economics from Davidson College, and he received his MA in English at the University of Nevada, Reno.
